recommend a Plunge router?

thats a solid choice for a router. as far as bits go, i've had excellent luck with these https://www.amazon.com/Trademark-Stalwart-Multi-Purpose-24-Piece-Router/dp/B000X47YDE/ref=sr_1_3?s=power-hand-tools&ie=UTF8&qid=1481403579&sr=1-3&keywords=router+bits and yeah i know they're cheap, but im not running a shop or constantly routing stuff. so for the hobbyist they work great. if you want something a little more stout, search 'router bits yonico' and snag a set of those.

you like yours? the reviews are scary. Lots of people having the bearings fly apart and them dulling quick

yeah i havent had any bearing issues to speak of. none seizing or coming off. I've used a good number of the bits too. so far so good.

I wouldn't focus too much on the dust collection.

While it sounds nice and your thinking I need that, after you start cutting holes and that big hose is something you gotta continue to work around it will become a pain in the ass!

Also its a smaller connection so you will have to use a shopvac (unless you have an actual dust collector and smaller hosing piped in already).

Downfalls of using a shopvac is the filter will clog almost immediately from the sawdust.

So then you try these bags to go over the filters to prevent the filter itself from clogging instantly, but these bags are not that great either and the thing is still clogging and losing suction from your mdf dust.

Now your going out and spending $50-150 on a cyclone separator to add to your shopvac to keep it from clogging, which it will do just fine but your still going to have that damn hose to constantly be in your way.

Also the plastic opening maybe in the way if you run any larger round over, or sculpt style bits.
