cichlidfort Posted April 27, 2008 Report Posted April 27, 2008 Alright so yesterday I finally finished building my first box and now that I have done it I want to do it some more! It's actually pretty fun once everything starts to come together and you finally figure out what you're doing. Anyways, I will start with a list of questions. 1.) How do you tune your car? 2.) And once you do tune your car, what does this mean? Is it possible to find out what your box should be tuned too for the best results? 3.) Is there a way to tune cars and figure out if they will sound loud from the outside? For my next vehicle, I think I might go with another SUV just because I am 6'6 and most cars are just to small for me. One of the things I like most about systems is how loud they get on the outside. I know every different vehicle is different but isn't it the bigger the the vehicle (more airspace inside) the louder it gets on the oudside? Like my friend (loganuf) has an expedition with two 12 L7s with only 1500 watts and I have two 15 L7s with 2000 watts but I think his sounds about as loud if not louder from the oudside. I have a Jeep liberty and he has an expedition so I assumed the extra airspace he has makes up for what he doesn't have that I have. 2008 Chevy Impala (undercover cop style) Setup in the makings

I am pretty sure there is a way to find out what your car is tuned at. I have read it on here multiple times on smd. Yeah I know how to tune a box and when I say loud outside I am talking about bass, not mids and highs. 2008 Chevy Impala (undercover cop style) Setup in the makings
mbdblue Posted April 27, 2008 Report Posted April 27, 2008 I believe the only real way to find out what your cars best freq is, is to just go through different freq boxes and see which hits the best or hardest...I dont know any other way besides that. If there is another way, hopefully someone will chime in and tell us. korey_hofer Posted April 27, 2008 Report Posted April 27, 2008 you don't tune your car you find the resonant frequency of your car #1 way requires a t-lab make a sealed box with a flat responce and run a sweep at low volume so your voltage doesn't drop and ruin our results the loudest is where your car resonates at #2 meusure from your windsheild to the back winndow or rear of trunk and divide by 4 and you will get close I don't really think you want to tune your box to where your car peeks at because it is usally to high for daily and Is only sutible for burps previously known as wenn_du_weinst aka fucking internet coward supreme. I talk shit on other forums like a little bitch and hope i don't get caught out on the street.
roscoe1129 Posted April 27, 2008 Report Posted April 27, 2008 The only way to check your vehicles resonate frequency is to play a frequency sweep while metering it on the termlab *only accurate meter*. you will have a readout at the bottom that shows what frequency is reading loudest.
