slm9s Posted May 22, 2017 Report Posted May 22, 2017 I'm looking to add a single 12" in a ported box to my 06 GTO (tiny trunk). Max space is 46x18x16high, but to fit through the trunk opening 34" wide is about max. To have space for air to move around/over the box I was thinking 34x15x13.5high. I was thinking the CAB ultra 12" pushed by the CAB 1600.1, but will listen to other options... I listen to rap/top 40/rock. I was thinking about 2.2 cubes net at around 35hz. Does that sound about right? If I can go narrower than 34" to free up a little trunk room that would a bonus, but not necessary. With 18" max depth, will a rear port on a 15" deep box sound good, or should I do a side port? Since space is an issue, would aero ports be a better option than a slot port? I have a 150amp stock alt, and will do a run of 2/0. And the big 3 if needed. This will be in my daily driver so medium volume 95% of the time... Can someone help me with a box? Anything I'm forgetting? Thanks in advance.

Looks like you have all the dimensions figured out. I'd say take what you have and put it in some software to tune the port and build it and see how it does.

I was thinking 34x15x13.5high. How much volume do I lose with those dimensions? Could I use an aero port to be more efficient with space?
Joe X Posted May 23, 2017 Report Posted May 23, 2017 I managed to get something done within the dimensions/specs you wanted, power: to sub rated, amp subsonic filter to 28Hz, minimum port clearance 2 1/2", figure is just an assembly guide: NOTE: If building outside you need to build a cardboard dummy box to test fit in it's way inside.
