I dont think its a "rule". Ive never followed it on over 3000 boxes. :blink:

I make up my own rules as i go. :lol:

I stick with 15 sq in. per cubic ft. on all of my boxes. Unless forced to have some stupidly small port then I do 10 sq in per cf.

i dont do any crazy SPL setups so i generally try to do as much port area as possible while still maintaining a resonable box size in any daily driver setup

i try to do at least 20 sq for 10's 30 for 12's 40 for 15's...while my setups arent meant to put up numbers they seem to work out pretty well.
