andre_jeong
if a sub says impendance 2 ohms then does that mean i have to get a amp that is 2 Ohms???im new to this....i plan on getting a single 12 inch alpine type r or a single 12 inch kicker cvr...which amp will be best for these subs??and which sub is gonna be louder???THANKS!!! Decaf
ohm is resistance so type r's have two voicecoils wrapped together so each coil (positive and negative on each side of sub) should read around 4 ohms or 2 ohms depending on which model you get same goes for kicker using dvc personally ive seen ALOT of type r setups that are very loud id suggest any amp that puts out 5-700w as type rs are infamous for taking more than they're rated never liked anything kicker ie: (1)12" alpine type r dual 2 ohm powered by rockford fosgate t500-1bd would be nice

Decaf
ohms are a measurement of resistance, the less resistance the more power so most 1 channel or mono amps produce power from 1-4ohms, the lower the ohm the more power the amp i suggested puts the most power at 1 ohms, so u need a dual 2 ohm type r cause it will walk all ofer that kicker
Torres
if your kicker is a 2 ohm dual voice coil sub, wiring just that 1 sub to your amp will give you either a 1 ohm load, or 4 ohm load. 1 ohm load wired in parallel, or a 4 ohm load wired in series. a 1 ohm dual voice coil sub will give you a .5 ohm load wired in parallel, or 2 ohm load wired in series. 4 ohm dual voice coil sub will give you a 2 ohm load wired in parallel, or 8 ohm load wired in series. see the pattern that follows? pstone11
ie: (1)12" alpine type r dual 2 ohm powered by rockford fosgate t500-1bd would be nice A type r can handle 1000RMS daily? Both t500bd's i've got put out just over 1000 watts rms@1. I'm just curious, seems like a little too much power for it. Guest
Get an amp that is "2 ohm stable" which is practically every amp made I would get a Kicker 750.1 to start off on that. its 2 ohm stable so you can use your R or you can get a Hifonics amp and it is 1 ohm stable. Guest
oh oops, didnt know it was a dual 2. I suggest a Hifonics TXi 7508 750rms at 1 ohm off topic, but he has to bump his electrical up a little bit. 700w can take a toll on a crap electrical
