With those specs 40x20x20 I calculated about 7.6 cuft before sub and port displacement using 3/4 inch wood. With that space I'd say 2 fifteens should be good. As far as equipment its going to be personal preference. For me with that budget that space and that alternator I would do the following.

Amp: Sundown SAZ-3000d $700 http://www.db-r.com/sell/store/index.php?productID=146

Subs: DC Level 4 fifteens $400 http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/ind...showtopic=20834

Wire: Stinger $108 http://www.darvex.com/miva/merchant.mvc?Sc...Product_Count=1

Wood: 3/4 inch mdf or birch ply around $30 to $40 at lowes or home depot

Speaker wire: Knu 10 gauge $16 for 20ft http://www.knukonceptz.com/productDetail.cfm?prodID=KLE10BL

RCAs: Knu Karma $15 for 6 meter http://www.knukonceptz.com/productDetail.c...rodID=KARSS2.6M

Remote wire: 14 or 16 gauge wire from walmart $8 for 50ft spool I think

Starting Battery: IDK size but assume around $250

Battery: d3100 $300 http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.a...mp;autoview=sku

Total: $1837 Leaves room for shipping on batteries

Thats just what I'd do in your situation giving the space and budget

Rebuild coming soon

nah. you dont wanna put very much more power on those (even if you've seen people do it...there's more that goes on behind the scenes that allow that). so in this case...the same power (3000 ish watts from that example) on the pair of subs would better suit him. it'd be louder because of the higher cone area. the extra power you put on an 18" wouldnt make much of a difference imo

i just wanna clarify somethin wit you... as a groundpounder that in my opinion is suppose to be cone area... like wat assman is doin... alot of 10's or 12's... when ur just runnin 2 15's or 1 18 then thats just gettin into spl setups... so which one do you want

Do you read ur own response b4 you post?...or just type ur gut reaction and headbutt the enter key?

How bout this, the Caddy sounds so damn good it can put a smile on a "deaf mans" face :)

thats funny. ive never competed, and yet i had 1 18. a groundpounder is someone that just beats down the block no matter what they have.

and assman is competing with all them subs, so you kind of contradicted yourself there.

I know groundpounders usually have a lot of cone area. But its my daily driver that I still want to be able to take to comps and actually compete. With those level 4s in my car does anybody have an idea of what I could be expecting to hit db wise? Also those im assuming in a ported box tuned to what frequency?
