Fish Chris Posted December 25, 2019 Report Posted December 25, 2019 Granted, it would be better if "you knew, or could somehow find out, and didn't have to guess" lol It kills me when manufacturers don't give the subwoofer displacement, but even if they did (which I don't think my Dayton HO's do ?) it is almost always for surface mounted, or flush mounted.... And in my case, the sub (one of them) will be completely rear mounted. I'm guessing it would be about .15 to .18 surface mounted, but now the whole 14-15 inch circle is sitting one inch farther back, so.... What would you figure cubes at, if building an enclosure with this sub rear mounted ?

Fish Chris Posted December 25, 2019 Author Report Posted December 25, 2019 Well two thoughts... 1) I'm using a double thick (1 1/2") baffle, and it will be pretty easy as it is, to mount these subs isobarically, one on the back, and one on the front. 2) even if I flush mounted them, yes, it would take up less space.... but space is not the issue here. Id still have no idea how much volume this sub was taking up ? Edit: I know it sounds weird to ask, "How much space ? ....and then to say, I'm not worried about space lol I just mean, if the sub took up .75 cubes, fine, so be it. I just need to know this when calculating my enclosure. I have plenty of space and can easily add as much as I need for subwoofer displacement.

I found this calculator, but not sure what to use on certain parameters ? Mounting depth ??? It will be easy enough for me to reduce my volume by .07 cubes. Heck, that would be easy enough even if Id already built the enclosure... just add a few more 2 x 4 braces, until Id taken up the required space. I definitely want to talk to Parts Express again though. Those guys have been really helpful. Thanks again.
