2006 Toyota Tundra Under Seat Sub Box?

Recommended Posts

So, my buddy across the street has been talkin about doing a sub under the back seat of his Tundra for days now, it looked thiesable, and there is even baffle boards they sell to mount 8's

How un-realistic!!!!

http://www.soundoffaudio.com/item.cfm/id/2207

So, I started messin around, built a baffle, and did a spacer to space the surround from the bottom of the seat.... Oh hell no, I couldnt get a finger between the front gasket and bottom of the seat, and the magnets are going to hit if I glass the tub where the sub goes, and this sub is 3.5" depth, this ad says good for up to 4.5" depth, they obviously didnt put in to consideration of cone to seat play, which there is None...

anyone done one of these?

Iam thinking of raising the seat with some 1" blocks at the front hinges, so it allows more room above the seat, and so it locks in the back

there is ofcourse, child safetly too, he has 2 babies

any opinions?

any input would be appreciated on this

Iam thinking of finding a cavity under the cab somewhere, and build a MDF box, fglass/resin outside, and then rhino line it, and bolt it to the bottom of the truck, and just port it in to the cab, making a bandpass box- Ive done this before, on other cars, works good, sounds good, but need a better look under the truck

I have a ritual called "terminator". I crouch in the shower in the "naked terminator" pose. With eyes closed I crouch for a minute and visualize either Arnie or the guy from the 2nd movie. I then start to hum the T2 theme. Slowly I rise to a standing position and open my eyes. It helps me get through my day. The only problem is if the shower curtain sticks to my terminator leg. It sorta ruins the fantasy.

he just came by, we may just cut the plastic out, that will give us almost 2", but will look ugly for sure

I'm not sure what plastic u mean...If its underneath I don't see it making any diff if you cut it out in the name of more airspace I'd say do that 1st...

As for the "no room for subs to play" / being right up against the seat...It will muffle the sound somewhat but not that much really.

In the 2006 chevy truck I put those 3-l7 8's

here...\

even tho I recessed the subs 3/4" ("flush mount") the subs leave an imprint on the seat backs when you fold em down so you know they are just mashed right up against them....and it still bumps almost as loud w/ the seats up as down.

If you're trying to squeeze evy .1db out of it I guess make it as open and free flowing as possible by doing what you said with raising the seat but it seems like a bit more work than is really needed. They will still "bump" if they're against the seat tho.

I'd say just cut out as much underneath as you can and run some new JL w5's, Kicker CVT's, or maybe look into the new RE flat subs.

You said "this sub" is like 3.5"....which one? what you have to go in there?

well, dry fitting the subwoofers, they are so air tight againts the hard plastic under the seat

they actually press up on the plastic

Man I wish I could just talk my buddy in to doing a box in the bed of the truck, and port it in to the cab via-port

we got all this fiberglass/resin, and we are expecting to use it

I did see a Tacoma box that is a center console that sits on the back seats like a L shape, may end up just doing that

Dohhh this is a Tundra center console box..... hmmm... case closed I believe
