ptcary
Well, I guess I gotta go to Lowes to find a sawzall if I am gonna get this rebuild going! I don't know if I am sad to see it go or excited for the new wall!! To keep me busy I am working on a sonotube for my mini-theater. It houses a RE audio REX 10 in almost 2 cu ft tuned ~25 hz. I bought a dremel trio too, and am starting on a 12" Mazda logo to use as a ring/grille for the Eclipse 10" sub in the Mazda and I also found a nice Ipad hardshell at Frys that should be perfect for glassing into the PT center dash. And this last week I decided to repaint the PT rims with a white lip. Nice new look,so I have been staying busy. Thanks for all the PMs and responses about the Fi Q15"s, They are now at the top of my list. ptcary
Here are some pics of the grille for the Mazda subwoofer, started with a small sheet of 12"x12" 1/4 birch ply; measured out a 12" circle, used a flexible ruler to shape out the logo and a dremel trio to cut it all out, then threw on some charcoal carpet. Here is the iRemix iPad shell, should be perfect for mounting in the PT's dash: PTCary 2003 SMD PT Cruiser 2011 Honda CBR 250R 2010 Mazda 3i Sport MY BUILD LOG
ptcary
Ok thanks to a few emails to Fi, I have made up my mind (sorry Steve...no more mini Meade wall). It is going to be 2 Fi Q18"s in a 4th order wall. I'm excited! The reasoning is that I can run them 1100 watts each and not have to go nuts upgrading my electrical and alternator. Plus I can save some money on 2 subs vs 4; that can be put towards the ipad and 2 new AQ 4x90w amps for the mids and highs. I think I know what I want for the front doors, too; the car always needed more midrange, so that will be the focus of the doors. I am not planning to run any rear speakers right now, but may decide on a component set in the rear hatch for car shows when the hatch is open in the back. I do want to upgrade to XS batteries and that new XS charger. Also want to move up a step in the Knukonceptz line to wire that is more flexible. All three amps, charger and batteries will be in the back of the rear hatch this time. A new center console will be built for the ipad, bass knob, the aeroforce gauge and the radar detector controller that is there now. I also want an additional Stinger voltage gauge up front. I have the wall generally designed, just need to work out how to build it inside the car and any bracing. SGTSKIP
Finally got around to mounting the amp in the Mazda today. Still need to add a on/off switch for the fan. As far as a on/off switch You can find a digital thermometer with and use its outputs to turn on/off the fan as the temp gets where you set it so its not on nonstop that would burn it out, Dont plug it into the trunklight as if it gets hot your stuck with a fan that isnt on. But you said that the fan is less than $10 so If you went and bought 3 or 4 and held onto them, you should be ok. Good luck on the rebuild of the PT, but please start a new build log "PT Bruiser PT2" for the tear apart and rebuild, just link this build log in the 1st post so people can spend the 2hours it takes to get to the restart.....
