Dafaseles
So, got a couple of things done since I posted last. Not a much as I would have liked, but progress is progress. I got the painting done on 4 of the 6 speaker grills. First, I hit them with some primer Then I hit them with some gloss black rusto. Yeah, that's my slipper lol I used a whole can on these 2 and their 2 twins. Turned out pretty nice. Then today, my cousin came over and we bent the last 2 grills I'm going to hit those with some primer and rusto in the days to come. We also got to work on the passenger door. The original frame we made wasn't going to work, so we had to start from scratch. So, using some nylon rope, and some painters tape, we where able to fit up both baffles, and build a makeshift frame for them to rest on. Double checked, and glued everything down that didn't get a screw or 2 now, i need to mount the speaker grill hardware, paint the baffles, and start the fleece! I started mounting the hardware, but I ran out of time All in all, I would say today was an absolute success 2011 Chevy Silverado under construction My build log here. Check it out! Dafaseles
Got a couple of new pieces today. Some sun flash resin. I was too lazy to take it out of the packaging. And this beauty! This came out dope as hell in my opinion! My box is going to be painted white, so I think this thing is going to pop! 2011 Chevy Silverado under construction My build log here. Check it out! Dafaseles
So, I'm still working on the doors. Painting and such. I'll have an update on those soon. This weekend I got some work done on my dash board. So, this is a picture of what my stock dashboard looks like. see those 2 cubby holes on either side? That's where I'm doing the work. The drivers side cubby will house an SMD OM-1 and the passenger side will house an SMD VM-1. My cousin and I tried making a nice, flush mount for them out of ABS plastic. But it didn't work. It looked like shit... then broke anyway lol. If you order the 3 meters together (VM-1, OM-1, and the TM-1) off the website, you can also get a single din template for all 3.i got it because, well, it was free and I figured it might come in handy. It did. So, I don't know if this is even how you're supposed to use the template, but I figured out that if you take the board and the front gauge face out of the plastic housing, you can mount it to the back of the template. So fuck it. We cut the template into 3 pieces and used the outer 2 holes for the mounting. Glued it on so it would stay in place. Then we taped the backside as, I don't know, I guess a barrier you would call it. Then I applied a "generous" amount of long hair fiberglass bondo. Then same the shit out of it. Next was a layer of short hair fiberglass bondo to get into all the big gaps. Then, you guessed it, sanded the shit out of that. Next was straight bondo for the finished product, ready for paint. Guess what happened next... This part I hand sanded. First with 300 grit to get close, then 800 grit for the final smoothing. Came out pretty nice. It should look nice when all done. I'm waiting for the paint to come in to paint the whole piece. Progress is progress 2011 Chevy Silverado under construction My build log here. Check it out! I'm just going to keep plugging along. I want to get it done by July. There's a competition in my area (there hasn't been a comp in my immediate area in years). I doubt I'll finish in time, but I'm going to try. 2011 Chevy Silverado under construction My build log here. Check it out!
