Arthur79 Posted August 13, 2021 Report Share Posted August 13, 2021 For sure. It took me a moment to realize that his EV uses an A/C motor and has a D/C to A/C converter. That worked out for him because he could use an off the shelf 480v A/C amplifier (I'm guessing it's a PA/concert/event type amp, but I haven't verified). What he's done is really laudable, definitely pushing into the crazy SPL space, but I agree that it's definitely a 1-off highly technical project. Most of the EV's I've looked into use a straight D/C setup (no D/C-A/C converter) and I think that is going to be the future as D/C motors are a lot more efficient than A/C motors. That said, the trick is making it accessible without being overly complicated/difficult with a plug-n-play approach similar to how it is today in traditional ICE cars.
