BigBoss_35 Posted December 19, 2023 Report Posted December 19, 2023 Hey! I want to build an enclosure for my single XFL-10, but I am unsure about the specifications. People say around 2-2.5 cubic feet at 32 hz, but I don't know. I am very new to car audio and would love some advice!
ehall8702 Posted December 20, 2023 Report Posted December 20, 2023 I've owned quite a few xfl 12s They like 2.25-2.5 cubes, think spec is 2 cubes for the 12. How much power do you plan on putting to the 10"? What do you listen to mostly? If it's decaf and rebassed stuff def 32hz or lower If daily just music with bass you can tune 35ish and still play low but don't really lose output on normal music. I'm sure @Joe X will have a better recommendation, he's the enclosure guy. 2009 Silverado 1500, 7.5" lift, 37x12.50r17s, Built Gen 4 5.3L ( 4.8l flat pistons, decked 243s, SS2 Cam, Pac 1218 springs, ported intake, 120mm TB, Long tubes, 3" duals HP tuner software tuned by me), 4l80e swapped and 4.56 gears. All done by me. stereo is Pioneer avh 600ex, all stinger rca, jp23 v1.5, skar rp150.4, and hertz hpd4. 2 SHCA 6.5 8ohm, 1 SHCA 3.5", and 1 DS18 tw120pro in each door. The 3.5 mid and 3.5" tweeters are powered by the skar rp150.4, the 6.5s are powered by the hertz bridged @4 ohms. Dual runs of 3/0 welding cable, 300a alternator, 2 Vmax AGMs up front. current sub is a AB XR 12 ( dual 2 ohm) with bottom spider cut out in 2.25 cubes at 32hz
BigBoss_35 Posted December 20, 2023 Author Report Posted December 20, 2023 Currently, I plan on just putting its rated power (1500 rms) to the 10". I listen to a variety of genres, so I think tuning to 35 hz might be smarter. I am just worried about making the enclosure too big.
Joe X Posted December 20, 2023 Report Posted December 20, 2023 This sub plats very peaky even in average sized boxes so for a single XFL-10 you should keep 1.0-1.5 cubic feet net and about 20 square inches of port area at 35Hz and 1500W. I would really like to know what people are recommending 2.5 cubic feet specially if overpowering 50% above rated.
BigBoss_35 Posted December 20, 2023 Author Report Posted December 20, 2023 Thank you. I have the newer version of the XFL which is now rated at 1500 rms instead of the old 1000 rms.

If you have t/s parameters for the new version you could list them here or picture them, still, 2.5 net or something like that is too much for most 10" subs as it too much for some 12s. In fact most manufacturers try over time to design subs that work in smaller boxes.
BigBoss_35 Posted January 10, 2024 Author Report Posted January 10, 2024 I'm not sure what I want to be honest about the type of enclosure and sizing. I have the time and resources to make any enclosure. What would you recommend to maximize deep bass?
Joe X Posted January 10, 2024 Report Posted January 10, 2024 A few questions: 1) what vehicle is it 2) what music you listen 3 how much measured space you have for the box HxWxD 4) what sub and box you had in your car you liked the lows if any. Answer those and I should be able to tell you what may work.
