Audiohz Posted August 27, 2024 Report Posted August 27, 2024 Look to change a build currently two kicker comp gold letter 15’s. Sealed box 1.8 per. On a cxa1800.1 looking to swap to two kicker comp q 12’s not the newest version these are the 850 rms ones. With a 2.0 per vented enclosure tuned to 33hz . Car is a 03 eclipse. Same amp would be used at 1ohm. What would possibly give the most output?
Joe X Posted August 28, 2024 Report Posted August 28, 2024 By going from 15s to 12s you are losing a lot of cone area, even if the 12s are on ported you won't see a meaningful gain in output. Modeling both options could give you a clearer picture. If you do a couple of Sundown X 12s on a 4.5 net box and a 4K+ amp then you will see appreciable gains.
Doodle Wamboodle Posted January 4, 2025 Report Posted January 4, 2025 CompQ 12's ported will give you more without a doubt. Case in point: -I had 1 compq 12 dishing out 134db in a ported. -Switched to compQ 12 sealed and only hitting 131db. Double the area, lost 3db (which is a large amount, btw) My next plan is to move them both into a sealed. They like room. try to give each 2.5cubic feet if you can fit it.
