honestly i doubt you'll pick up many db's the main purpose of sound deadening is to keep your car from sounding like you got someone trapped in your trunk trying to get out..to your ear it may sound louder cause again the sound deadening will make your car/truck quiet with less road noise when driving..

You'll hear cleaner bass because there will be less rattling. That will make your system louder to the ear, although it may not reflect it on the meter.

Its actually vehicle and system dependant. You cant say because my 2004 burban with 15000+ watts on 4 18s 2 layers of hushmat picked up 3 db's a toyota celica with 2 12's on 3k of power will gain anything its just something you would have to test b4 and after. I recomend it for the daily just because it makes the bass sound cleaner with out any of the extra vibrations/rattles and you car quieter in general driving down the road.

Some people need a sympathetic pat... on the head...with my hammer

Im not david but do have input ;) My mercedes has 2 10's with 2k of power subs and port rear. My seats do not fold down so all bass has to make its way into the cab via the rear decks factory sub holes. I have a solid metal wall on my trunk side then my gas tank then another solid metal wall on the seat back side. B4 i put 2 layers of hush mat on the trunk lid it would rattle something fierce and I could actually feel air leaking at the seams. 2 layers later and all I have is some vibration. and my roof actually vibrates a little now.
