Check Actual Ouput Of An Amplifier?

Power = Voltage X Current

Voltage = Current X ohms

So if you have clamp and get current and use a DMM and get voltage you can find everything you need from those two formulas

Example, I clamp an amp got 70 amps AC and 100 volts AC

So power is 70 x 100 = 7000 Watts

Imp rise is 100/70 = 1.42 ohms, this was wired at .5

That is all.

so it looks like there a averaage impedance rise of close to double on music? for instance if i have a 2 ohm nominal load on music mopst likely it will be in the 4-6omh range with impeadnce rise. so heres a dumb question, when they say a amp is stable to x.xx ohms is that for a nominal load or with consideration for impeandace rise? i guess if i understand all this correctly., i should be able to run .5omh nominal load with rise so be in rangwe of 1-2omh acutal playing load?

That rating is for nominal load. Most people will tell you not to wire that low because you can damage equipment fast. However I'm a ground pounder that competes and don't really take the time to wire up/down when I get to a show so I leave mine at .35 nominal. I just know where to put my volume for cruising and for when I'm in the lane.

I know I have 3x rise in my box so wiring at .35 I will rise to just over 1ohm. You have to have the electrical to back this up, if you wire low and your voltaage drops your going to protect an amp fast.

Hope that helps...only way to find is test test test...lol

yeah see ive got 4 d4 woofers and 2 aq1200d strapped for 2400watts @ 2ohm, AQ rep said they can be wired down to 1 ohm with proper electrical, as far as that goes i have a dc 270xp alt, opitma yellow top under hood and a firmware agm in back, big 3, all 1/0 8g speaker wires.. i guess im wondering what the diff would be between what i have now and say if i swapped amps out for say a sundown saz3000d so i could run @ .5 nominal?
