I just got a 98 chevy malibu and Im planning on putting 4 12's in it. My question is how big of an amp can I use without frying the stock alternator? I was thinking of gettin an 1800 watt 4 channel amp.

you can cook bacon shirtless if you're not a pussy...lol

not hatin, but am i wrong here it looks as if the amp is not grounded its hooked directly to the battery. it that the way it should be.

Thats going to pull alot of current if it was to be ran with subs only.

Have you thought about a Mono amp instead?

and your lucky that malibu alt is right on top you could change alts in under 20minutes mine is underneath the motor where you can't reach from the top and can't reach from the bottom.
