tommyk90 Posted August 29, 2008 Report Posted August 29, 2008 I wouldn't necessarily call that a 5th order. Since you are porting the "sealed" rear chamber forward and will also have the front chamber firing forward I would call that a parallel tuned 6th order. Even though you aren't necessarily "tuning" the front chamber, the giant opening is considered a port. The ported box within a ported box that you are referring to as just a 6th order is technically a series tuned 6th order, as pictured below Nevertheless, good work. That Quasi- 6th order box is bad ass, I built only one and it knocked, thats why I was confused myself about the design with no sketchup designs, but if its the second design, that would be very impressive, and more than likely louder than the dual tuned bandpass I have a ritual called "terminator". I crouch in the shower in the "naked terminator" pose. With eyes closed I crouch for a minute and visualize either Arnie or the guy from the 2nd movie. I then start to hum the T2 theme. Slowly I rise to a standing position and open my eyes. It helps me get through my day. The only problem is if the shower curtain sticks to my terminator leg. It sorta ruins the fantasy.
dr.db Posted August 29, 2008 Report Posted August 29, 2008 I read only difference between 4th order and 5th order was filter slope/crossover settings basically 5thorder had a steep xover slope as to not damage the subs in high SPL set ups, when a 4th order has no crossover slope so you can get a wider bandwidth, for SQ/SQL set ups all my years doing boxes, I never quite heard that term 5th order, I just assumed you meant 4th order, but I looked it up, and it said that I didnt realize you answered the crossover issue yourself.. lol But I read up the same thing as well You know thats what we called the bandpasses with both sides ported back in the day!!!I still call them that!!SHIT is going to hammer pretty damn hard I'm thinking.. http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/public/style_emoticons/default/hairtrick.gif coming soon!!!

Forevrbumpn Posted August 29, 2008 Report Posted August 29, 2008 I heard for max spl, the inner port you tune at cabin resonance, and the big outside port, double that like 40-80, etc I have a ritual called "terminator". I crouch in the shower in the "naked terminator" pose. With eyes closed I crouch for a minute and visualize either Arnie or the guy from the 2nd movie. I then start to hum the T2 theme.
