newls1 Posted July 12, 2008 Report Posted July 12, 2008 I have 2 completely "virgin" 18" BL's (never seen power before) I just mounted them in my box today, and noticed something. Both drivers cones' are very stiff compared to my mmats 12's that im removing, I know that is normal, but 1 speaker seems to move a little easier then the other, is this normal? I DO NOT have my amp yet (audioque has the 2200d on back order!!! damn it!) Could it just be that since I moved them from my room, to outside in the garage while I was working, humidity got to them, and made it feel like this? Just throwing up ideas........... ALSO, I took myself and my newly mounted speakers to my local stereo shop, so they could verify that I wired them correctly (1 ohm) and for some reason the dude wanted to see if they were in phase, so he "burped" them real quick by touching the speakers wires to the rear batt's (HC800's in parallel) and both speakers moved for a half second, did the fucking idiot possibly do any damage to the subs buy doing this? I know I use my cordless drill's batt (19.2v) to tap on speakers cables to find out which DOOR SPEAKER i'm working with, but 2 HC800's have alot more power! I hope this isnt an issue, as I will drive there and shove the speaker up the retards ass sideways if this is a problem. To my original question about 1 speaker "feeling" a little looser then the other, this was even before the idiot tested to see if they were in phase... David Posted July 13, 2008 Report Posted July 13, 2008 they should be fine, But I would never let some dude at shop mess with my gear...... errr wait, thats not true, I would let a few guys that I know that work at shops play with my gear. Ray, David@AI, and dr.db could fondle my gear if I needed help buy a damm DMM, if your gonna start messing with this stuff you better start learning real quick, or you could be just throwing money away
