I heard that they CAN be powerhouses but that they need a lot of juice to make em run efficiently. What inputs does everybody have on em? Im thinkin of running two older style BTLs on em at 1 ohm. bangin_explorer Posted August 2, 2008 Report Share Posted August 2, 2008 yes, they are powerhouses.. and honestly, from someone that has owned the 75.1, 150.1, 200.1, and the 400.1 they are power hungry but not as much as you think. i ran each one off a stock Explorer alt (130a i think) and just a Duralast batt up front. at 2ohm i had NO drops lower than 12.5-13v and full tilt @ idle... 1ohm the lowest i dropped was to 12.0v.. now at .5ohm i had to baby everything cause it was really starting to draw.. when i babied it, the lowest i let it get down to was 12.0v, but i tried to keep it at 12.5v at the lowest. i saw a 11.8v one time and said fuck that and took it back to 2ohm. but imo, yes they are power hungry just like most 4000+w amps, but it dont get too bad till you get under 1ohm. Boon Posted August 3, 2008 Report Share Posted August 3, 2008 Hungry hungry amps. Go ok with low impedance, especially if you keep the voltage up. Make good power as you get lower in the impedances too. If it ever breaks, you're fucked. Both the power and output sections will shit themselves completely, and this board design has some issue with micro-fractures forming in the PCBs so keep it well away from the sub box.
