The Performer
Forgot the last picture. I did a little sanding before calling it a night to knock off all the fuzz and crap. ChevyBoy
looks good man. you shouldve worn long sleeves or put baby powder on the deal with the itching. what oz. fiberglass did you use? and about the milkshake (ive never done it), they said it spreads out easier/smoother and its easier to sand. so i would go with that instead of just bondo. Oh damn, I forgot about the baby powder! Isn't it supposed to clog your pores so the glass doesn't get in? I'll be sanding alot tomorrow I'm definitely going to do just that! Long sleeves just don't fly during august here in TX. Hmm, so milkshake over the straight bondo then? If it's easier and better in the end then that's the way I'll be going for sure. Thanks again! The Performer
looks nice man it looks like uve been doin this for a whileThanks man, but nah, I've just been doing this since the beginning of the thread. From what I've gathered from fiberglassing it's not that it's hard, it's just that it's ALOT of work. You've gotta be fast AND precise all at once, I guess that's just where the difficulty is. Anyway, that's just my thoughts on fiberglassing now that I've had my share of experience. CERTIFIED BITCHES!!! Not being new at something doesn't mean anything. LSN2meBoom916
Finally done glassing! I've got 5 layers technically, but the last 2 were VERY thick with mat. Quick question though, I see alot of you guys use the milkshake instead of just bondo to do filling. Is there any major advantage or should I just stick with simple and go with just the bondo? As far as the milkshake-You basically just wanna add about 20%-40% resin to your bondo/filler mix, then add herdener (the filler hardener (red) is most important but you can add resin hardner too..but I usually do without resin hardener unless it's pretty cold out). By adding a "liquid" (resin) to the bondo/filler mix, you will make the overall mixture more "liquid" and it will "find it's own level"...this will allow more of the air bubbles/pockets trapped within to move to the surface and pop...leaving you with an overall smoother surface b4 you start sanding. The mixture won't "obscure" imperfections as well as it will be thinner than pure filler but it will mean less sanding as long as you have minimized the hig/low spots already. Lookin nice and solid thus far...I see lots of potential for a great looking/sounding setup here. Keep it up. Yeah, I have been keeping on top of my layers with my sander so it's been pretty good in my opinion. I did a pretty damn thorough sanding right before the milkeshake so I think I'm going to be pretty good when it's all done! Thanks loads man, I saw your reply and the other guys in that thread in the other sub forum, you guys saved me big time. The Performer
Did the milkshake today! Freebies! Found this stuff in the garage that dad had. (I tested it this time to make sure it wasn't more stale stuff, lol) Did VERY little sanding just to see how well the milkshake worked. I must say I'm pretty happy with the results! Tomorrow is SANDING, and more SANDING!!! Quick question guys, when it comes to painting could I get a gorgeous gloss finish from just can spray paint? Otherwise what would yall recommend that's decently priced? CERTIFIED BITCHES!!! Not being new at something doesn't mean anything.
