Map Sensor Question

someone told me that when a MAP sensor goes bad it will make you car smoke. is it true. it is on a d16z6 if it matter. a civic

all it does is sense your vacum ussaly when they go bag your gas milage goes out the goor and your moter pings when going up hill.

I'm not sure about smoke. First clarify, what color smoke? Black??? If so it could be running rich. Map sensor will give you a crappy idle and a rich mixture. Cause the car to run like azz.

No a bad map sensor won't make your car smoke. Typically smoke is called by something like burning oil

the smoke is pure white. when i took the plugs out 2 of them were covered in this white gunky shit. see the civic revival thread to see the plugs.

if it is a fuel problem i bet the cause are the 16 year old plugs i took out. they were FUCKED up.

White stuff on your plugs means your running lean. Black stuff means your running rich.

Is that oil on the bottom of the plug in the 2nd pic?

If I had to guess, either you've got a fueling problem..or someone tried adding engine mods and hasn't adjusted the A/F Ratio
