New Alternator, old wiring

Somebody correct me if im wrong but i dont think there is a problem with puttin it in now.  you just wont reach the full potential of the alt.

True, and I didn't wanna say go for it and have something happen to it. So I'd try to wait it out. It's kinda like using 4ga wire for your amp when you need 1/0. Too small could end up hurting it or not giving it what it needs to perfore at its best. If you really wanna go through with it, go for it, but if anything happns...I'm not to blame here....blame slinky...LoL.

I was thinking that maybe your system could draw more current than the stock wiring will carry and cause overheating/melting.

It's one thing if your alternator CANNOT provide more current. But it's a different thing to have an alternator that CAN provide

the current, a system that CAN draw the current, BUT small wiring for the current. See my point?
