BigBassBurb
OK so here is the deal. I have a '97 Burb with a 454BBC in it. I'm takin the third row seatin out so I can have a box. I have right around 28.5 cubes to work with. My question is to you all: 4 18" MTs or 4 18" FI BTLs. I kind of want to try the BTLs as they are new and not everyone has them(that kind of also scares me too). I'm figuring on about 10K(possibly up to 12K) watts. I've been dreamin on doin something like what steve did with the hoe but with less watts since I have a lil more room. I can fit 3 big sized batteries in front of the box but behind the 2nd row seats. I can also put 2 under the hood. Also, I'd only like to run 1 300A alt(maybe bigger, just want to stick with 1 alt though). The dimensions I have to work with are 48Lx54Wx19H. I'll be putting the amps under the 2nd row seating. I'm wanting this truck to be a loud daily but I want a removable port so when I go to comps I can hit a mid 150+. Thats my goal with this truck. I know what 148dB feels like(last setup) and want more. Please help me with this. Thanks to all that reply.
kingsuv
That box is really close to mine in my X. It's a tad louder with the port up in the rear then out the back. I'm having a hard time getting the rear wave over the top. Whatever you do U will have to brace the hell out of it. I blew out the side of mine. As far as subs, the MT's have been proven. The FI's are a damn nice lookin sub. I would get in contact with them and feel them out. If you get a good vibe then go with them. Nothing wrong with tring something new. I mean the first minute is ok but that thing just really starts digging deeper and deeper in your earhole till you cant stand it no more. Seems like it does it with relative ease....16 12's on 8 amps.........gotta love it.
meade916
true that almost 3 years ago i dont think ANYONE was using the MT 18 for music before me so tryin somethin new isnt always a bad thing also, a removable port in a burb wont help much....unless your planning on walling it off to the b-pillar. No matter what you do, if your coming out of the cargo area, your note will be between 37 and 46hz. You may be able to tweak/tune it a little higher or lower but the DB's wont change much. Thats why i rarely if ever take my port out of my box.....it was an experiment that just didnt pan out for me. Burbs and Hoes all like to be below 50 bro and im sure that Bills EXCursion is gonna be similar. BigBassBurb
well my last box was tuned at 37Hz and I loved it expecially for comps but the low low on the daily side wasn't hitting right. Maybe try 35Hz or stick with what you said Steve and go with 37Hz again. I think I am gona get ahold of FI and see what the BTLs are all about. They are sayin they have over 20 configurations of the BTL for whatever you are into SPL wise so that might be a good thing. Anyone be up for making me box plans? Let me know what I need to find out from FI and I'll find out. Mike
kingsuv
Box plans r easy. it's build such a big and loading into the back where your gonna run into problems. get a few people to help. The size will depend on what U go with and how many. Quote Designing, building, and shipping boxes. BigBassBurb
^^^^ now that is cool as shit. I was just goin to get a Hifonics Colossus for each pair but now I might just get one for each sub. Only thing with that is tryin to find a place to put the amps. Steve the colossus are about 26.5" long which is just a little bit shorter than the size of your T4000s. Where are you puttin them in the hoe? Just tryin to figure if I could stuff 4 under the seats. meade916
just a "bit" shorter.....more like 6.5 " shorter i dunno yet bro so far i got half the amps in there spot (not hooked up) and i still gotta figure out where the rest are going. They are so long and so heavy its hard just moving them around to see what will work.
