bibby>Chode
Okay, So i only worked a half day today, so i could get some work done on my install. I for the most part finished the amp rack today. I got the sides finished. The final plans for it are to get some 1/8 paneling for a home, and add front & back piece to it Then it will be glassed over smooth, and painted to match the box/truck. I didn't do anything to the box. I am going to get some wood putty, and fill in the edges that didn't line up right. I jsut got a call from work that we have to redo our inventory we jsut did last saturday. Yay for working a 20hour shift. :angry03: Anyways. Pics on 1st post! bibby>Chode
And yes, i predrilled the holes. i don't know why they split. I drilled in with a bt almost the size of the screw, and the whole lentgh of the screw. Any suggestions?
meade916
good lookin build Bibb... did you try using fine thread screws instead of course? Also, i rarely put any screws into my boxes just 2" nails. The glue will do all the work. One shot of the nail gun and you wont use screws for hardly anything either. Use good glue like your doing, have straight cuts like you have and brace the box - it shouldnt budge at all. Can i make a suggestion on that box? Instead of doing a heavy duty brace i would just add one of those triangles like you have on the sides to the middle. Not necessarily because you need 2 chambers but mainly its a good way to brace a wedge box. It will already be strong due to its shape and size but this will help and probably be easier then trying to stuff a 2x4 in there. just a suggestion though so far your lookin good man! bibby>Chode
I'm not sure if those 10's are going to cause much flex, but i will add a brace anyways. Also, after the recess, it will help to bring the front of the box back up to where it should be. And it'll add a unique diamond type shape as well. They are course screws. If you look at the box pics, i put titebond on the outside of the splits, so it shouldn't be a problem. Just frusterating. Thanks for the advice. Forevrbumpn
I see you shop for wood at Home Depot ;-) Green stripes on the side of the wood.... dead giveaway Nice box so far I have a ritual called "terminator". I crouch in the shower in the "naked terminator" pose. With eyes closed I crouch for a minute and visualize either Arnie or the guy from the 2nd movie. I then start to hum the T2 theme. Slowly I rise to a standing position and open my eyes. It helps me get through my day. The only problem is if the shower curtain sticks to my terminator leg. It sorta ruins the fantasy.
