Andrew2944r Posted October 3, 2008 Report Posted October 3, 2008 And just for reference, during the whole test, the voltmeter never moves off of 14.4v, that is because we never got over the alternators maximum output capability, we ran out of load bank on the machine.. The fact it would still do 350 amps hot and maintain voltage, if using the average that an alternator loses 20% of output when hot rule, we were still doing 350 hot, figure 10% on top of that for a cold output and that alternator should top out cold between 375-390 amps.... Some of the best customer support and always answers the phones, cant wait to get these dual alts set up and my new Dual MLA Team Ampere Audio
MECHMAN Posted October 6, 2008 Report Posted October 6, 2008 Too bad the RPM gauge on the dyno doesn't work, I'd be curious to see what RPM you get that 358 amps at, and what that unit does at idle. 1-888-MECHMAN www.Mechman.com [email protected]
newls1 Posted October 7, 2008 Report Posted October 7, 2008 ummmmmmm, can I buy one of these? PM me if so I love my staffie So anti FACEBOOK it isn't even funny
Guest Just_Rob Posted October 16, 2008 Report Posted October 16, 2008 Because you asked... That was at about 6500 rpm under full load.. At idle, in most GM vehicles, an honest 75-80 hot, internally regulated.. In that setup, idle output is mostly irrelevant, with the other alternator he is running, he has well over 200 amps at idle, hot... If he needs 300 amps at idle, I'll make it happen, he wanted big and badass, he got it. Externally regulated, and over 7000 RPM's that alternator will probably do over 400, no problem.. That alternators baby brother will run 315-320 amps, and make an honest 140 amps at idle (2300 alternator RPMS), at 14V, not loaded down to 12.5 like some people do... On a vehicle, it will probably do 150-160... I have video of that alt on the dyno too, but because I knew some skeptic would ask I ran it with 2 Fluke 337 meters, and RPM readings with a laser tach... As you can see from the video, my machine's amp gauge is off a bit and reads low.... Next time I run one of those, it will be with another 60 amps of loadbank in the machine, and better video capture software.... Too bad the RPM gauge on the dyno doesn't work, I'd be curious to see what RPM you get that 358 amps at, and what that unit does at idle.
Forevrbumpn Posted October 16, 2008 Report Posted October 16, 2008 just curious, is that Pulley RPMs, or Engine RPMs? I have a ritual called "terminator". I crouch in the shower in the "naked terminator" pose. With eyes closed I crouch for a minute and visualize either Arnie or the guy from the 2nd movie. I then start to hum the T2 theme. Slowly I rise to a standing position and open my eyes. It helps me get through my day. The only problem is if the shower curtain sticks to my terminator leg. It sorta ruins the fantasy.
Guest Just_Rob Posted October 16, 2008 Report Posted October 16, 2008 just curious, is that Pulley RPMs, or Engine RPMs? 6500 is pulley RPM..... Which on most GM and Ford truks and SUV's would be right at 2K engine RPM...
