Cummins Powered

Hey everyone im just wondering what you guys think of the dodge cummins. I might be getting one very soon it is a 2000 Dodge 2500 cummins with 4wd, auto, and 103k miles on it for around 11.5k. i know there is a few diesel owners on here and just wondering what your guys opinions are and what to look for in a diesel when test driving it and/or looking at it. Also looking for Pros and Cons of the dodge products.

Well the cummins are the best motors you can buy. Dodge doesnt have the best transmissions in the world that would be something to look out for. I have always had Cummins in my family and always will. I myself have a 2008 Dodge 3500 6.7 Cummins mega cab resistol edition. Im sure loganberyy is going to come in here and talk mad shit about Cummins but dont listen to him. If you buy a Cummins you are buying a trouble free engine

Yea that's why i mainly want one because of the motor. it has to be dependable threw college and stuff and a trans is cheaper to replace than a new truck. when does the trans normally go on those or just depends the way it was driven?

It really depends on the way its was driven my dad has a few for his business that are from 98 and they have over 200k on them and the trans havent had problems I personally have never had problems with the trans on any of my Dodges neither has my family. It should have no problem at all getting you thru college what so ever you might even make some extra money by having it to help people move and shit like that

Thanks for the responses, Since you own a dodge(s) what are some of the major problems to look for if any i don't want to buy something and have it crap out before winter because i over looked something.

I myself am a Ford guy. But the Cummins motor is definitely an awesome motor. Like Aaron said the transmissions can be a problem, my friend just replaced his at 130k but like he said it all depends on how its driven, he drives like an ass. But all in all a very good truck.

Well to be honest i haven ever had any major problems with the dodge I have I only had a few little minor problems with things like "wear" parts brakes tires etc nothing that was a manufacture failor or anything like that

ok, ill start off by saying i HATE dodges, but the cummins engines are very will built motors, great at making extra power, but they do need to work on there trannies, but overall if taken care of they will last ages

my dad has a 2007 Ram 3500 inline 6 cylinder Cummins mega cab dually....lets say that bitch is NASTY!!! fast for the size of the truck..we pull a trailer when loaded its well over 4.5k pounds and it pulls it like nothing (yea i know 4.5k isnt much to a diesel but still)
