ptcary
What is the difference (in terms of power demand) between running two subwoofer amps at 4 ohms bridged mono each vs. running one large amp at 2 ohms bridged mono, given that the RMS wattage output is the same? Would either configuration draw less power from the car? **EDIT: Just thinkin....I have no plans....yet! I would think.... if it takes XXX amount of power to make XXX watts with one big amp. I think generally it would still take the same amount of power to two amps to make the same watts. It may all depend on which ohm load is more efficient for the amp. Edited October 14, 2008 by banginAltima Quote If you build it, db's will come... finkster
i think it also depends on how efficient the amps are...and which amps I would bet that one amp would be more efficient... ptcary
I guess efficiency is the question. I want two amps that can do 1200 watts each @ 4 ohms, or one amp that can do ~2400 watts mono @ 2 ohms. Anyone want to comment on some low to mid priced amps that are very efficient? (I am headed into the SMD search engine). banginAltima
Why are you wanting to run a high ohm load? What subs do you have and how many? Quote If you build it, db's will come... meade916
i think ease of install would be the biggest factor...also once installed, the ease of set-up would also come into play. Gain matching multiple sub amps can be a pain (unless its RF T-series blah blah blah :D). anyway you get what im tryin to say im sure Quote All SMD products + MORE available at my store here! https://wccaraudio.com/ Subscribe to My Youtube Channel! ptcary
Why are you wanting to run a high ohm load? What subs do you have and how many? I have 8 12" subs. 2 sets of 4 wired together, 4 ohms each. So I want two 4 ohm amps, or one 2 ohm amp. ptcary
I am thinking 2x Crunch GP2500D, they are supposed to be ~1250 watts RMS. I need to learn more about how to rate efficiency and look at other comparable amps to this one, but you guys know I am a Hifonics addict. Easy to build rack, and very easy to adjust them! Quote PTCary 2003 SMD PT Cruiser 2011 Honda CBR 250R 2010 Mazda 3i Sport MY BUILD LOG
