My Sub Ohm Load

i wanted to know whats the deal i have 3 dual 2 ohn alpine type r subs if i wire em in parallel/parallel (pos to pos neg to neg then pos and neg to amp) i only get a .9 ohm load. if i run in series/parallel i get over 2 ohm close to 3. i dont understand i thought i shoud get 1.33 series/parallel. and way under 1 like .5 or less in parallel/parallel can any one tell me why and is it ok safe to run parallel/parallel

the only three ways to hook them up will be 1.34ohm 3 ohms or 12 ohms . take a look at this diagram and make sure your wiring is correct.

It sound like you're getting extra resistance which I guess is oming either from your multimeter or wiring. Check each coil individually, then check each sub after wiring the coils together, then check all subs wired together.

A sub with '4 ohm' impedance doesn't always have a DC resistance of 4 ohms.

Some subs will specify a 'dcr' specification which is the true DC resistance - in many cases it's a lot lower than the stated impedance.

Yup some are as low as 2.8 and other are 3.2-3.4.

i tested each on thay range from 2.3 -2.5. I also have then wired differnt than any diagram in that page. I have each sub wire poss to poss and neg to neg, and then i wired eachs sub together pos to poss and neg to neg then i wired to amp an i not sposed to wire like that?
