HondaMan450R Posted November 9, 2008 Report Posted November 9, 2008 I have a Rockford T2000.1bd in my car with stock electrical, except for the big 3. I have the amp hooked up to two 12 inch Alpine Typr R's @ 1ohm at the moment. The amp is not turned up much at all, maybe 15% gain with 2volt preouts on HU, with no bass boost. With deeper bass, sometimes the volts will drop to 11. I was just wondering if this is low enough to damage the amp? If not, what is the ''danger point?'' Quote
wizarddrm Posted November 9, 2008 Report Posted November 9, 2008 Can someone help me out with this, what the hell is the big 3. Quote
EricM9104 Posted November 9, 2008 Report Posted November 9, 2008 ys it's low enough to blow it if you play it that low, for an extended period of time. gain is not a volume knob! Quote 2015 Honda Civic LX 4dr | 110k miles | Stock 1996 GMC Yukon SLT 4dr 4wd | 260k miles | JVC Head-unit
DUBIE Posted November 9, 2008 Report Posted November 9, 2008 Can someone help me out with this, what the hell is the big 3. the BIG 3 is like lets say is to have a better charging system than your stock charging or electrical system.....it helps to keep your voltage good...also it helps on NO dimming lights or voltage drops...hope this helps...someone correct me if im wrong... HondaMan450R Posted November 9, 2008 Author Report Posted November 9, 2008 gain is not a volume knob! I know. It's for matching to amp to the source units preout voltage. I just stated that for no reason I guess. Either way the amp is no where near clipping. Quote
HondaMan450R Posted November 9, 2008 Author Report Posted November 9, 2008 The BIG 3 is upgraded (bigger size) ground wires. 1 from battery neg. to frame of car 1 from frame of car to engine and 1 from alternator to positive battery post Quote
AI James Posted November 9, 2008 Report Posted November 9, 2008 imo the simplist way to discribe a big 3 is like: stock electrical is like sucking a milkshake through a coffee straw Big three is like sucking through a slurpee strae (ie you get more) Quote
DUBIE Posted November 9, 2008 Report Posted November 9, 2008 or that ^^^^^^^^^^^.....i just didnt really know how to explain it....haha what a noob i am.... Quote
