raytard Posted November 25, 2008 Report Posted November 25, 2008 correct me if im wrong, but midbass is ~90-200hz? basically what a 6.5in driver can produce so if he could get a decent 6.5 in there with some power nice and sealed, it would be a mid-bass driver, in your face. The Performer Posted November 26, 2008 Report Posted November 26, 2008 What's the size of those speakers in steve meade's hoopty build with the T15k's? I know those are pretty big themselves, are those 6.5's? CERTIFIED BITCHES!!! Not being new at something doesn't mean anything. Just because a prostitute isn't new at what she does, doesn't change the fact that she still 'sucks' Click to see my build! Proud DC owner
98HOEONSIXEZ Posted November 26, 2008 Report Posted November 26, 2008 so today i started on my a pillars. putting a 6.5 in each one or maybe 2 in each one. should i glass the entire pillar or just the area right around where im putting my rings and speakers?? also when i lay my "stretchy" material can i just resin it or is there something else i need to do?? im using a polyester fleece blanket and am ordering my Duraglass and evercoat at the end of the week to avoid the holiday delay. is a co ax acceptable or should i use components? thanks guys, ill post some pictures if i can get my damn POS digi cam to work. Hey man,I think your idea is great.heres a picture of my my pillars that will house a 6.5 comp set when they were just starting them. .oh an along with the few other places to put a couple sets of 6.5s too LOL
dwright27 Posted November 26, 2008 Author Report Posted November 26, 2008 Post some pics up and prove them wrong.... Just resin the area your working with and a little past, looking fowards to seeing your progress!! still cant get my camera to work. and im still working on the rings. i cant get them how i want them ( as in the cutouts just right ) to flush mount them. Im really considering not flush mounting them at this point, but im still trying. as soon as i get my camera going ill post up some pictures for you guys to criticize for me and tell me what i need to do different. Eh, I'd go more than just a little past with an A-pillar. There's never enough posts on A-Pillars. A few things I would do, (and what I'm going to do when I do my pillars) Don't use fleece. It's too thick and might make the pillars look huge with un necessary cloth. Try Ponte cloth. Drill lots of holes. Wrap the whole pillar, take the cloth Around the edges as well. Pop stapes around the edges, then fold the legs of the staples over underneath the plastic pillar. Then go ahead and start glassing. Never heard of Ponte cloth. could i use say a T-shirt? or would the cotton soak up to much resin? Hmmm, looks like you got a lot of good advice here along with some good ole SMD prodding! Only thing I see that no one addressed, is that #1 coax's suck, get a decent component set! #2 WHY would you want 2 6.5"s in each a-pillar?, and #3, consider building your self a 3-way passive setup. 4" mid and 1" tweet in each a-pillar and a 6.5" midbass in the front doors. Don't be afraid to post up pics of your progres, I did and my pillars turned out pretty nice. yea that seems to happen im a good sport though ..... i agree coaxes are teh ass but honestly i dont wanna spend the cash for anything else at this juncture right now as im saving for a few amps, and am getting all of my birch im using for free from work. EDIT: yes i know i can get some decent mids/highs from parts express for a great damn price!! just not ready for that yet, as im gonna try my luck with these. i was just throwing 2 6.5's out as an idea, nothing more. and im definately not afraid to post up pics LMAO!!! next persona who post talking shit to dwight for no reason gets a vacation. either help him or shut up THANKS!! 6.5" up top. omg what do you suggest?? I'm thinking that a 6.5" coax might be a little wrong for an a-pillar... Unless you're doing this for practice only, which if you are, I'd advise you to start looking around for an extra set of stock pillars "just in case". IMO it will look like a fucking dinner plate up there because it'll be at least a 7" ring sticking out a few inches.. I would have to say that 5.25 component set, or a tweet, 4" pillar setup with a 6.5 - 8" in the door would be much better all the way around. Pretty much is practice, but not practice at the same time. and yea im hunting for some pillars. What's the size of those speakers in steve meade's hoopty build with the T15k's? I know those are pretty big themselves, are those 6.5's? only difference is i wont have 15KW worth of mids lol. dwright27 Posted November 27, 2008 Author Report Posted November 27, 2008 over the last few days ive read and read and read the tutorial for the flushed in speaker rings that Meade did for the hoopty, so while i was at work yesterday on my breaks and lunch break, i pulled my trim router out, got my straight cut but and made a few passes with no circle guide. It didnt come out to bad for not having a guide but when i get my plunge router back and my jasper jig gets here ( which i ordered from amazon ) then i should have some perfect holes Found my dads digi cam and it needs batteries but ill have some pictures for you guys hopefully tonight or sometime tomorrow. 2006 F-150 4 DC XL M2 18's Walled Daily Driver XS Power 4 DC 3.5kw Team DC Team S.P.L.
