Again to all the people who are missing the point...ALL the DD subs can sound good or bad...its up to the installer to make it right..and for the few that still are mentioning the 40hz tuning...read a bit more..40hz out in the OPEN..not in the car..they tell you 5-10hz lower in car!!!

Yeah you can't take away from Dante. With 'only' 28kw he pulls some crazy numbers, even when he swaps the 99Z18 for a Z10 or even like a 3515.

I have a single 9515 for daily driving and I've had it in boxes tuned all the way from 32hz to 62hz. At 32hz tuning it sounded very decent, hammered out 29hz if I asked it to, and still got loud enough to jump the front wipers. At 62hz it sounded like arse on music, obviously, but it was very very loud between 58 and 65hz. It's all in the install x99999999.

Hey Charger, one things for sure, those are some bad ass looking subs :-) Especially with the carbon fiber dustcaps !

So, do you have yours tuned at 40hz, like DD recommends ? And, have you heard these same subs tuned higher (for a straight up burp box) or lower, for a straight SQ setup ???

Got it tuned to around 33Hz mate. I haven't touched the port since building it, I am fairly happy with the frequency response. In a wall, it loads off the windscreen, and the cabin acts like a bandpass enclosure giving the cones control at very very low frequencies. I can change the cabin's tuning by winding the windows up or down I guess. :PBefore that I had my 9915 in many different boxes, volume wise, port area and port tuning, you name it. The smaller I made it, and the lower I tuned it with less the better it seemed to get for daily bumping. This was with around 5kwrms on it though. Great sub, took the power daily like a champ!!

Chris, man your being really conservative, in car response, due to Transfer function, a box tuned to 40 hz, will still see in the 20's very well

Its like when I do bandpass boxes, I tune really high, I mean almost absurdly high. I have 1-10" tuned to 80hz right now, yet because of transfer function, below 80s hz, its a very musical box down to the 30's- That new E40 cd slumps like crazy in that 80hz bandpass, and its all lows

when I do other peoples bandpass boxes, I still tune them between 50-60hz due to the box just sounding so damn good at an octave below tuning

But ported, 40hz, is still low as hell in realistic terms

a larger vehicle will have a better transfer function do to the airspace in the interior

I was just referring to the DD's spec sheets..I know that it will do well tuned @ 40hz...but it seems everyone on here thinks that you have to tune in the 20's to get low..........f-ing newbs!

Unless you have a real good sub sonic filter/x-over..etc..30 hz is plenty low.

my hoopty ass daily peaks uber low so the 27hz tuning + cabin gain peaks right at the sweet spot and it gets pretty windy on the inside especially on the low note from I put on chopped n skrewed http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/public/style_emoticons/default/hairtrick.gif
