Craig
I have a couple questions, what does having a ported enclosure "tuned at" mean, like 32hz? And I see on Meades box his port also has depth to it, how do you figure that?
andym85
if you are tuned at say like 50hz, then u arent gonna be picking up any low notes. if you are tuned to say 30hz, then you will pound on the low notes. u see tuning in the 50-70hz range for strictly burping in competitions, and around 28-40 for daily driving/playing music. lower tuning = lower notes higher tuning = no low notes once u figure up your port area --simply height*width for sqare ports, or pi*r^2 for round ports--you then use an equation or u can find some port calculators online and plug in your numbers and it will give u a proper depth for your desired tuning frequency. longer port=lower tuning. shorter port= higher tuning. you usually see massive amounts of port area and ports that are very short for spl competitions. i likes me some audio stuff...
