ptcary
If midbass is what you are after, 3-way is the way to go! You don't have to buy an expensive prefab set, you can build you own and even go passive to start. I used a Vifa tweeter and Dayton 4" mid in my pillar pods, and a Selenium 6.5" midbass in the door. JL audio and Hifonics crossovers. Add a MDF ring to the door sheetmetal and some sound deadener, and you are good to go. duct_tape123
If you want out of the box convenience then go with some Alpine Type R 6.5" components. Excellent midbass and very user friendly crossover. Or step it up a notch and get the Type X components. They can pick up frequencies all the way down to 35Hz! Punkeyboozter
the guys have mentioned alot of nice sets but for the money I really love my CDT cl62 ;s if money is no object id go for a set of scanspeak revolators Loudness is no substitute for musicianship, and partial deafness is no badge of honor. I was once able to hear this advice. Build Log>>> http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/ind...pid=672024& New Build Believe in the order
ptcary
Lots of good 2 ways out there too, people here rave about the Phoenix Gold RSD sets, too. It's all about what YOU want. And what kinda dash and door you have to work with. **Edit, once I heard 3-way, I just had to upgrade! Nightshade
What is the exact amount you don't want to go over for a comp? I am personally picking up a set of Alpine Type X spx17-ref comps. I can't afford the pro series, but for $180 the refs can be had online. I've heard both of them and the pro's do sound a bit better, but for twice the money the reference series wins out. Check em out if you can spend $180+shipping. 2013 VW Jetta GLI 2.0 Turbo 1 Sundown Audio SCV2000 1 Sundown Audio X15 V2 1 XS Power D3100 Audio Control LC6i Stock Deck 146.4 sealed on the dash at 37hz 2001 Focus ZX3: RETIRED Team Sundown Audio, Team XS Power, 2 time NSPL Car 3601-Up Champion, 2 time NSPL Car Hardcore ChampionHighest NSPL Scores to date:154.3db on the dash sealed at 46hz, 156.2db in the kick at 46hz155.2db unofficial on dash at 43hz
