He could keep the clamshell idea. He would just have to do a verticle one with the woofers slightly staggered so that they can fit 2 high. More outer shell is a must as well. He could just keep what he has and add to it. That way if he was to do a verticle clam he would have enough depth to get both 15's in there. Otherwise 12's are the only option to go with. Steve Mick has a verticle clam shell in his van. It's also a 4th order bandpass and it does 163's on a burp and 160's in bassrace. As far as I know other than Bob Perillo Steve is the only person to actually put up over a 160 in a bassrace run. It is true that clams can get very loud, and they are extremely musical as long as there isn't any cancelation. That only usually happens with tons of woofers though. You may have to rip it out and start over, or try to modify it from what you already have. You should have taken the port all the way over to the driver's side door anyway to start.

Well i had to work around the rear fender wheels. I still have ALOT of bracing to do. Thats like 26 cubic feet right now. The out sode of the box is going ot be boxed in with 2x4s. As seen in an earlier pic. There are still 3-3" round wood dowels that will go from the front baffle to the rear of the box. Will also have a 2x4 glassed in from the top of the box to the bottom and attached to the front baffle and ALL will be glassed in smooth! all the corners have resin and thick glass mat! Also have "L" brackets and will also have another layer of resin and mat when the corners are rounded! If I have to go down to 12" it will be fine! I like 12s more lol. I just did 4-15s last wall and only on half power well you can see from the videos what it did! This def aint my first go around lol

Sorry mate but I don't like the chances of that being a flat wall. There is no where near enough port area in that for a decent flat wall, and you'll struggle to fit the woofers if you go 15s.

I would go a horizontal clamshell, that way the only thing you need to rip out is the port. The outer shell is thin, but the horizontal clamshell baffles will stiffen up side sides making it laterally very strong. You can adjust the angle to how you like to get the port area you desire, then add length. You'll fit four 15s on it without a hitch. Brace vertically inside with 2x4s from roof to baffles, just make it all symetrical. You can't underestimate how strong an enclosure needs to be.

My horizontal clamshell is 54mm (2.1inch) all the way round minimum. Then the back wall of the enclosure is 120mm (4.7inch). To finish off everything is braced with twelve 2 x 4 pine braces running vertically through the enclosure. Then glassed all internally. It is quite strong but my next one I'll make even stronger.
