Clif Designs Cd4800lx

Ya..it does look like a pretty solid amp..

I just need something around 5-6kw true power...electrical system isn't a problem I can build mine up more.

I just thought I would throw this amp out there and see what you guys thought...655 isn't bad for a 5kw amplifier.

Oh ya, I'm running a Power Acoustik 5500D at the moment...supposedly 3200 watts at 1 ohm..

If the clif designs does 5200 at 1 ohm...or close to it 14 volts then Ima go for it.

Ok....so I found a guy thats actually testing this amp on the *** forums..

At 13.3 volts he said it did 5096 watts at 1 ohm, at 30hz..

Sounds good to me? what about you guys?

Don't know how he tested it, that amp sure as shit doesn't do that much power. Probably clipped to pieces - 5 or 10% THD likely or just pure clipping.

There's not a lot of amps that will do 5-6kw at less than 14.4v - maybe the DD Z2LV or Stetsom 7Kd

This amp is a Beast! and I am speaking from experience. I have had this amp for over a month and through some testing at 14.4 volts (steady!) at 1 ohm this amp will do 5827 watts. That is a little over 500 watts from what it claims to do. YES! it is UNDER RATED. I am working on getting the results for a true .5 ohm load but I have heard it is just a little over 7k. I have sen this amp sell for under a 1000 which is a steal. I have yet to test at 17 volts either but from the looks of it I'm guessing it will do about 10,000. Looks like the Hifonics Sampson amp. Upgrading your electrical system is a must!

i have been looking at this amp for over a month.

on ampguts, it says same board as the Impact Digital Devil

on the Clif page, says 5200@1ohm

on the Impact page, says 3700@1ohm

i figured it would put out around a good 4000, but i would love to see some proof of the "tested #'s" above. i have been debating on taking the chance of buying and testing for myself, but i just hate being let down...

any links to this testing around???

EDIT... links...

Subs are like titties, They need to come in pairs because ones and threes are just wrong, and larger amounts will always draw a crowd, we all have our favorite sizes, but the bigger ones are more fun to watch move. :D

I think it may do right around there. I have a few of the 2400 watt ones (1200 rms) and they do good. Or great for the price of 150 that i got them at. I always wanted to get one of the amps and see how they did. So if you do buy one let us know. Ive had clif designs shit forever and finally they are starting to grow popularity

Can you elaborate on your testing method?

The output section of this amplifier only has 12 MOSFETs. That's the same as a Sundown SAZ-3000D which only does a shade over 3000wrms.

We can be almost certain that the FETs are IRFP360LC as that's what almost everyone uses.

Yes it has a very large power section but I just don't see it making that much power. There's only 1 output inductor, and it's a pretty small one at that.

It just doesn't seem right when you compare it to say, an Atomic 5000.1D - which supposedly makes less power but has 16 FETs in the output section along with 4 output inductors.

When you combine the fact that the Digital Devil is an identical amp and is only rated at 3700w it seems like the final nail in the coffin for this amp's supposed '5kw' output.

But I'm still interested in how you tested it as 5827 watts...
