dmz2711
What is the best way to measure how much room(cuft) i will have in my wheel well once i fiberglass it in? I know i have seen people use packing peanuts, but i am not sure of the correct procedure to do it that way. Are there any other more efficent ways to do this? :^ thanks Nobody makes me bleed my own blood, NOBODY!!!
Dozier
What I have seen done alot is the same thing. Packing peanuts. They get a one cubic foot container or cubic foot cardboard box. Fill it to the top and dump it in. That is one cubic foot of space. Do it over and over until you fill it up. Count the boxes you put in. www.AlabamaDrift.com04 Silverado in the works
LSN2meBoom916
Yup...kinda. That's essentially it but the whole "one cube" box as a filler makes more work for you IMO. I just fill the tub, lightly pack it down w/ maybe one sheet of 3/4" mdf just to get it as settled as it can be w/ out crushing it, then transfer that amount to a bigger cardboard box. Then I just repeat the "squishing" procedure and take the LxWxH and divide that by cu-ft (1728in^3) That way if it's 4.368ft^3 (or however many dig's you count to) you don't get to the last 1cube box and pour "some" of it in and then go oh shit how much of a cube was that? Just my personal way of doin it, but anything that is "fluid" will work like sand/water any powder or liquid that will take the shape of your tire well. But for sake of low cost, LOW WIEGHT (try lifting 8cubes of H20) and low MESS (powder everwhere=no thnx), I prefer the packing peanut method. emperorjj1
ive herd the opposite... put the peanuts in first then shop vac them out in to whatever can get you that perfect measurement J. LSN2meBoom916
I suppose that could work but it still seems like an extra step to me. Why "shop vac em" ...INTO the shop vac conatainer, and then just have to transfer em again to a measurable container? Unless you mean there's a way to vac em out and have the output of the vac spew em into another box? I dunno if thats what you meant but either way I have an OLD school vaccum w/ an itty bitty nosel for getting dust and junk and i'm too cheap/lazy/have no need for a new one so i'mm keep doin it my way but if anybody has an improved method throw it out there just in case I'm missin something.
