YUKON'S PURE SPL SETUP (Kicker & RF)

Recommended Posts

Well, I seemed to chickened out of the 4 18" BTL's. I just don't feel like spending 15 grand on an audio system. But however I do want to do dB drag and Bassrace, so I'm going to need subs that can play some pretty low freq.s, and what better than the Kicker 15" L7's. I just love the low enhancement of these subs, if you tune and cross them low enough they sound great. But since I'm doing Bassrace I'm all gonna need a SQL setup also, so I need a great, power, clear amp, and what better than the Power Series by RF, with 4 2ohm 15's I'll have the flexable to run an 1 ohm stable setup, so a T40001bd, with it's 4000 watt rated RMS power will push those L7's perfectly, for a total of maybe $5000-$5500 after power upgrade. This is the plan I'm staying with.

For the enclosure, as of right now I have a 23cbft enclosure plan, an even mixture of 2000LaDes and Meade's enclosure. You all are gonna have something to say about the tuning of the enclosure, but it's gonna be @ 28Hz. The L7's are one of the lowest playing subs on the market, 18Hz is their cut off point. I'll cross them @ 55Hz.

With just this I'm looking for 148.9-150dB!!!

I'm probably going to double brace the top and bottom of the box, so that's going to lower my enclosure volume to around 21.5-22 cubes.

As of right now the port is a 20x10x18.22" port with the enclosure volume at 23 cubes, but thats the exterior volume of the box, so I a bit more adding once I get all the MDF back to the shop, somewhere around next week, my back door isn't wanting to open, so I've got to fix that, wish me luck and hope it's nothing serious.

This one is 100% a go! I finally got to hear one of the L7 15" 2006 series subs in a 5.4 cbft enclosure tuned at 35 Hz, powered by an HiFonics amp lastnight, the one sub blow me away. So the upgraded 2007 series should be the F'in Bomb, with a rated 1000w Rms to each.

I like them the 15's mainly because they have as much cone area as a 18. But I'll never heard the L7's with the true RMS going to them, the old L7 setup I had in the Yukon only had 600w RMS rated Class D power to each one, 850 tested. But FOUR of those bitches will be quite enought for me. I just want a 150 @ 28Hz, quite possible with the amount of power I'll have. The average T40001bd is tested @ 4700w RMS

hate to tell you this man, but that I think your gonna be disapointed, becuase 4kw isnt enough power to get a 150 @ 28hz
