Im Having A Problem With My Car And I Dont Know What It Is

Recommended Posts

last night my car randomly shut off and my battery light came on. i was really low on gas so i thought i ran out of gas. i was moving at about 15 m.p.h. i threw the car into park w/o thinking and it made a bad sound. i turned the car off. i turned it on right away and went and got gas. The car seemed fine right now, but it turned off 2 more tims after that. and it was making a really bad sound like it was the belt or something, and my oil level was really low. when i sat at red lights it said i had no oil at all but when i was driving it said i had oil but it was really low. This morning i turned the car on and all the sounds where gone but my oil was alot worse. and another souns happened as a i drove. There was a sound like popcorn is being popped coming from under my hood and my car tuned off one more time at a red light. the sound got a little bit louder as i revved to higher rpms, but the sound was also there while i was in park. The sound went away right away after i turned off my car. im thinking its the oil but then why would my car turn off randomly and why did it turn off randomly last night. i did florr it like twice last night but i dont think that did anything.

Once or twice I have missed having a back seat / rear hatch, but all in all people love to see a walled vehcile. It just screams "i'm not fucking around with my setup, im loud"

Whyat kind of sound like knocking? If so it could be a spun rod bearing which would make your oil pressure fluctuate rapidly.

Hold the RPM's steady at about 2500 and have a friend listen to your top and bottom end, also have him feel the top and bottom end, If its bottom end its prob a rod bearing, top end is either a broken lifter or some lifter noise which can probably be solved with a good adjustment. And as for your car dying, that kind of goes along with my rod bearing belief..same thing happened with my buddies escort GT. It really sounds like a rod bearing to me..

That oil gauge doesn't tell you how much oil is in your car it tells you how much oil pressure your car has, big difference. I hate to say it but you will probably need a new motor. The "belt sound" sounds like a rod bearing spinning and the "pop corn sound" sounds like lifters tapping from low oil pressure. I hope I'm wrong.
