  1. Just curious, what kind of radio do you have? The CD for my CC-1 wouldn't work in my truck in a Clarion radio but works fine in my Blazer. I thought it was the CD but maybe it's the radio.
  2. This is so true. My truck does 159s pretty easily and to the ear it's not as loud as a gun but I remember reading in something from Kicker saying 140db was the same as a shotgun blast. I guess it's because of the frequency difference.
  3. Yeah, that's what I was saying earlier. My friend had a 3500 @ .5 ohms on 4 sa 10s doing a 150 out of the trunk. They were seeing a lil over a 1000 all day every day with no issues. I have 1 of the lower model e 12s in my Jimmy now. It's rated at 400 rms and I've been beating on it with 1000 for almost 2 months and haven't had any problems.
  4. Personally, I'd use something like this. It'll leave you some room for 45s if you decide to use them but that's just me. You may have different needs and purposes.
  5. The VVXs sound pretty close to the SAs. There was a guy down here running 4 SA10 on an AQ 3500 @.5 for a long time with no issues. He was over a 150db out of the trunk in a music box.
  6. If you plan to grow the 1500 will sell easier & probably hold it's value better because it is more of a competition amp. You can run the ohms lower and run up to 18v whereas the 1200 is only good to 16...
  7. I don't have any experience with the Skar woofers but I know the SAs can hold 1,000 clean watts pretty easily. They are VERY hard to beat for the money. If the 1500 is out of your price range the 1200 will work fine.
  8. If you want 3.5 CuFt per woofer you're going to have to go bigger. Those dimensions only leave you with 3 CuFt per woofer and that's assuming you're only using a single layer of .75" wood and also does not include port discplacement. Generally woofers want 12-16 SqIn of port area per CuFt of net airspace though.
  9. The first line on the 1200 page reads "The SAX-1200D is the successor to the SAZ-1000D model" so I think it's safe to assume the SAX is the newest version. You might want to consider something a little bigger though. The SA series woofers are very underrated so you might be doing better with a SAZ-1500D.
  10. But how big is the port? I think you're gonna want the box to be at least as far away from the tailgate as the width of the port. Maybe someone knows better but I think that's the "rule".
  11. I'd be shocked if the 18s were louder because they are less cone area. 2 18s are 508.68 SqIn and 4 15s are 706.49 SqIn so unless you have another issue, like the port being choked off by the tail gate because the box is too close or something like that I think the 4 15s would be the way to go.
  12. Yeah, your electrical will be fine with that. I'm running 4-SAZ3500Ds each at .5Ω on 4 XS d2700s and a 325a alt with no issues. I have 2 runs of 0 awg to the back and 1-0 awg for the big 3.
  13. It would be pointless for sure but I could see them saying most music is recorded at -5 so lets put -5 tones on the disc. They wouldn't be doing it because they wanted their competitors to meter lower but more because -5 is the norm for music. You'd probably be surprised at how silly USACi is. I mean you can meter with the doors open. How many people actually drive around with their doors open?
  14. The USACI tones are 0dBI understand your logic because the wording is vague, but I'm suggesting the safer/proper solution You would play the -10dB/-5dB track with sub level at max clean setting, then play 0dB and turn the sub level down until its clean also. When burping use the lower sub level, and maybe 1 click higher to see if a little clipping helps. Gotcha, I honestly thought it was the other way around from reading the manual. Thank you very much you have been very helpful.
  15. I don't know what I use for burping because I HAVE to use the USACi CD. I know I would want to use 0dB but It's not my choice. The USACi cd could be 0dB or -15dB. I have no idea where they recorded it that's why I asked if Decaf knew...Again, I'm not worried about "fucking shit up". I beat the crap out of my last set of subs for over 2 years and never had a problem. My new subs use the same coil and have way better cooling so I'm VERY comfortable in saying that they won't let go anytime soon and I'm in a wheelchair so it's not really easy to "retune" everytime I want to do something different. Honestly, it seems kinda dumb to even consider that if all you have to do is change 1 setting on your head unit to accomplish the exact same thing.
