dwright27
ok so i have an 06 F-150, and i wanna lower it in the rear a little. can i just cut some of my coilovers/springs to do this until i decide to bag it or throw a real drop kit on it? Do i even have coilovers on this truck lol? would it throw my speedo off? and would i need a flip kit and shackles etc? next question is the leaf spring i think that runs from the rear to before the rear wheel can i flip that to drop it a little? Thanks. Quote 2006 F-150 4 DC XL M2 18's Walled Daily Driver XS Power 4 DC 3.5kw Team DC Team S.P.L. Thanks. I dont believe you have coilovers on ur truck...just coil springs up front. Sometimes you can heat them up to drop them a little but I dont recommend cutting them. As for the rear, I know on rangers you can do a flip kit to lower the rear which will relocate the axle above the spring Quote Team Sundown Audio / Team XS Power / Team SHOK SMD Super Buyer/Sellerwww.sundownaudio.com www.shokindustries.com www.4xspower.com www.excessiveamperage.com

lowblueranger
You could, but the ride would be terrible. The speedometer wouldn't be affected either. You should wait to buy a set of lowered upper and lower control arms w/ lowered springs for the front, then a flip kit for the back with new shocks all the way around. But you could just bag it and be done with it. You'll still want the control arms for the front to give you the most drop and a 4-link for the rear. ryde2idie
to cut the coils youd have to take them off so id just buy lowering springs and replace them so that your lowerd and you get a nice ride. Quote

droopy89
you could cut teh coils on the front, but how it rides will depend on how you cut them,, id use a bandsaw, and id only cut a coil, it wont ride as good as stock, a little "stiffer",, if you use a torch, it will change the spring rates, the heat will mess with the characteristics of the metal, and most likely will ride like poo Edited January 29, 2009 by droopy89 Quote 1997 S10 EC Whats in it 106.9 Sq.ft. Im contemplating on whether to do this or not and just save up the 5 bills. Quote 2006 F-150 4 DC XL M2 18's Walled Daily Driver XS Power 4 DC 3.5kw Team DC Team S.P.L.
