creyc Posted February 1, 2009 Report Posted February 1, 2009 I've got my SAZ-3000D running at 2 ohms on my two 15" Havocs and have been more than pleased with the performance. Because my subs are DVC 2 and i have 2 of them, wiring to 1-ohm isn't an option, so I went with 2. A few people from other forums have mentioned this amp is fairly stable down to 0.5 ohms, even though it voids warranty and isn't technically supported. I'm wondering what the success/failure rate has been with people trying to do this. Secondly would I notice a significant improvement? I don't compete, or meter, I'm more of a street beater As far as electrical I've got a 250A HO alt, yellow top under the hood and a Kicker HC1800 in the back. ISO Posted February 1, 2009 Report Posted February 1, 2009 I can't condone .5 ohm use and I'm not telling you to do it. Positives from half ohm use are more power. Negatives are added distortion to your SQ,The amp will have to dissapate extra heat it wasn't designed for and you will be taxing all the components in the amp which means a shorter life span for the amp. I would say you probbly need to keep your voltage above 13.6 volts if not 14 volts at all times to help the amp to keep from blowing or sustaining damage. To be honest, you shouldn't consider a .5 ohm load except for doing burps,most likely you will blow the amp at some point if you run it at .5 ohm daily. Derrick824 Posted February 1, 2009 Report Posted February 1, 2009 That amp will run all day long @ 0.5ohm but I suggest having two good batteries in the rear to support it daily. Try it out on your current electrical setup but have a volt meter hooked up at the amplfier to see what your voltage drop is like. As long as you stay in the 12s you're fine. You will notice a huge difference in loudness from 2ohm to 0.5ohm with that amp. Quote

Besides 1600 watts is pretty brutal as it is. (although its never loud enough for me ; ) I'm not too worried about the Havocs. Giving 3000 to the pair would be just a tad over rated RMS anyways, as they're rated for 1250 RMS each. c0smo kram3r Posted February 1, 2009 Report Posted February 1, 2009 (edited) I also asked this. I got answers from EVERYBODY saying it would handle it like a champ. Plus, if your power supply blows, it only like a $50 to get it fixed. I was told from owner of Sundown that you need to stay above 12 volts...which you probably couldn't do w/ your current setup.
