Solder. or strip 1/2" to 1" of wire away, poke eyelet thru middle of wire... run wire thru and wrap around(usually 1"-1.5" in length)... tape over and a ziptie. I'll take a picture of an example display I did for work to show how we make connections. And how some of the wires look after scotch locks are applied. Guarantee you will never have any sort of faulty connection if you do either of those two methods. As for scotch locks and t-taps... don't get me started. So you would rather have a piece of metal cut into the wire? and have little connectivity compared to a wire to wire connection... to each their own.
