You can run any combo of subs you want if you cross them over properly and minimize the chances for cancelation by placing them correctly. "Crossover" effects can be achieved through actuall electronic or passive components or thru enclosure design. It has been done b4. Like anything else in life, when you start mixing and matching you just have to do your HW a bit more. You can build a MUT CAR out of spare parts and have it work flawlessly, but not if you don't do your HW on what parts are compatible and how they will interact. cichlidfort Posted December 19, 2007 Report Share Posted December 19, 2007 Hi, my friend is about to mix two 12" Orions (200 watts rms each sub) and a 12" Kicker L5. The L5 and the two 12's are going to be in seperate boxes. I have heard it is not good to mix subs but I never knew a reason why? Do the subs blow? Do they cancle each other out? Tell your friend to quit being cheap & lazy and run one or the other but don't mix them. The smart thing to do would be sell the L5 and buy a 3rd Orion.
