From what I've heard, they wont handle the power they are supposed to, but that is a hell of a lot of cone area. MickyMcD Posted March 14, 2009 Report Posted March 14, 2009 Honestly, large diaphragm woofers are great if you use them for what they are designed to do. They aren't supposed to have massive amounts of excursion, becuase they don't have to. They can move the same amount of air as a smaller driver with exponentially less movement. My first experience with large diaphragm speakers was at a PA shootout. It was a V-DOSC array with a fleet of PS-115 woofers (about thirty) VS another V-DOSC array with twelve horn loaded Turbosound 22" woofers. One was impressive, the other made the crowd physically ill with half the input power.
