a double din fits with no dash install kit? i have been always weary of trying

All i needed was the brackets to screw to the head unti and then to the dash.It fits in there just like the factory head unit.

Yeah, that's how the blazers 2002 and later were. Once the released the Factory RDS radios they went to double din. Did you have to use the expensive wiring harness?

just for weight purposes and birch is a little stronger then mdf but more expensive.

Nope it was the standard harness.
