treossi Posted April 12, 2009 Report Posted April 12, 2009 yeah i had this shit happen twice, when i bought my first 4 trei ssi tens.. the guy across the street at another stereo shop said they were like 50 dollar subs marked up to 120, and that they were crap, and i should have got 2 p2s to "smoke the treos" and then i went to go buy some wire for my doors and the dude at this ghetto shop said my fi bl power rating was wayyyy over rated.. i feel like slapping "consumer brand" noobs sometimes .... 07sOnAtA sp.ed Posted April 12, 2009 Report Posted April 12, 2009 ive had people tell me the same thing. ive also had people tell me that diablo Fi and sundown were cheap chinese crap.haha, i had some1 say that to me today. lol, I politely ripped him a new one. i just 2x 12's for cheap, and they were single vc. so i was like, can u brg out a dmm, so i can see what the ohm was. they happen to be, single 6ohm sub, that becomes a 3ohm load. i was like w/e. he then asked me what kind of amp i have. i told him Sundown. he was like yeah, these subs would be great, for that amp, he say's verbatim... "they are ok", and that they "get hot on a 2ohm load". i was like what? i said something to the effect of: serious car audiophiles know about Sundown and the quality of their amps. they are in the same league as rockford, and a fair amount of car audio fanatics prefer Sundown to rockford. I said something about how they used to warranty their amps up to a .5 ohm load, and 2ohm would be no sweat for for my or any sundown amp. he just stood there w/ a dumb look on his face like uhhh ....the thing is was very courteous about the whole thing, b/c there were customers around, and i wasn't trying to show him up... but he was still kind embarrassed b/c of the other people who he was helpin... they were in the vicinity of where he said that stupid sh*t to me. and he ended up sounded like he did know much, and just want to sell you something which is his job, but still... i thought it was kind of funny, that u said this, and it happen to me like 4hrs ago CURRENTLY UNDER RE-CONSTRUCTION 2008 Hyundai Sonata Team T3 Audio Team Deadly Hertz Team SMD (Street Motivated Devastation)

Sniper Posted April 12, 2009 Report Posted April 12, 2009 hell, I was in the local audio shop (audiospecialists) trying to find an alright amp to run the single RE 8 I got, needed something that could do 300w rms clean (yea, im a poor lil' bastard, and I believe in buying a bigger amp and turning it down, rather than buying a smaller amp and turning it up, because we all know that clipping kills speakers) and he asks what im running, I tell him "RE Audio RE 8", and he starts trying to sell me a JL 1w8 saying that RE is low quality chinese crap, Was a rather fun day. I ended up buying the amp on Audiosavings.com for 80 and saved like 200 dollars of what he was trying to sell the same amp to me for. Audiosavings FTW. (if anyone's wandering, Clif Designs CD20.2LX) 1997 Pontiac Grand Am SE Broke stock Head Unit Stock speakers suck -if I get a job, it gets 2 SA 8s in a 2.5cube box (roughly 2 cube with the port and woofers in)- -oh, and a new HU and some speakers that dont suck. and possibly a new muffler and tint job (previous owners tint is smudging in the back, if you know how to get tint off a window without damaging the heating stuff, let me know!!!)-
