11BangBang
I am running 12 guage on L7 15's, getting around 1000 rms, my speakers get smelly kind of quick in about 20 min of pounding. Could the small speaker wire be heating up my speakers, do they need more current, they sound damn good for me just seem to get hot kind of quick Quote 2001 Tahoe Alpine IVA-W505 2 OPTIMA's RED/YELLOW DUAL ALTs 140/220 (2) HIFONICS BXI1280D (1) HIFONICS ZXI6408 (4) ALPINE SPR-13S 5.25 (4) ALPINE SPR-17S 6.5 (2) KICKER 15L7 at 1 ohm 4.5 CUBIC@38HZ

Could the small speaker wire be heating up my speakers, do they need more current, they sound damn good for me just seem to get hot kind of quick Maybe its just me but if your sub takes 20min to heat up you doing pretty good I can heat my subs up in like 2min if i pound on them to stupid hard, but my amps or at .5ohms and or overpowering my subs! I think your speaker wire is ok but you could up grade it if you want to but i think it will still do the same thing. Your just pushing your L7's to their limit in my opinion Quote Under construction soon to be: 2 DD Z9518's 8 lunar L1500's (500rms each) Secondskin Dampner pro 250a Mechman rhino alt 4 runs of 2/0 (installed) 4 batteries (installed) 6-5 1/4's, 2-6 1/2's, 2-4in all ma audio (installed)

01 S-10
My L7 always got smelly pretty easily and that was with pushing the rated rms to it. 12 gauge should be fine. Quote TDH FTW !!!
