Gain/bass Boost ? Wtf

So.. whats the difference ? I've trying to reach 35v with my DMM... if i crank my bass boost all the way up "+18db" it'll read 31v and if i crank my gain up all the way it'll read 31v... i can mix the 2 to acheve 35v but should i mix a little of both ? or.. ??

if your headunit has a subwoofer control level feature, put that on full and you should get maximum voltage from your preouts.

what about the gain/bass boost ??

i was thinking putting MAX bass on the HU and do like 1/2 gain and 1/2 bass boost..

turn the subwoofer volume/level all the way up likey on the headunit

no bass boost

and dont turn up the loudness or anything like that

u should be able to produce the required 35v without bass boost added

bass boost= "artificial bass" and clipping and all that wonderfull stuff that comes with clipping

If you can't get to 35v on the outputs you're doing something wrong... Are you sure it's 35v you want? How much power at what load?

Most amp's max gain setting means the amp only needs about 0.2v to make full power and you can get that from every single headunit I've ever seen.

SRC level adjust is what you might need to mess with, what type of head unit are you using ? If your head-unit doesnt put out alot of pre-out voltage you have to add more gain than if your head unit had more voltage on the pre-out.

look for an option on your head-unit to adjust the source level, that will boost the signal from your h-u and give you the full voltage that it can produce.

My headunit is a pioneer and only puts out 2.2v pre-out volts im trying to power a hifonics brutus 2600 RMS amplifier, and i am able to get well over the voltage needed, but having a more powerfull head-unit would provide a much cleaner signal.

When you add gain/bassboost it is like zooming in on a small picture it begins to pixilate it ( clipping ) the best sounding bass & for optimum preformance you want to have a clear strong signal without having to add in all the extra things to amplify it.
