newls1 Posted April 23, 2009 Report Posted April 23, 2009 I have a Memphis line driver which should arrive on tues/wends of next week and just have a basic question to ask. My deck has a sub 2v output (Which is why Im buying a line driver) My amp is tuned pretty good to my liking, but now that I will have a 9vrms line driver introduced to my amp, now where should I set my gain on the amp? Should I zero it out, or the max setting is 8v on the gain dial (USAmps MD3D)should I put it all the way up? Or max out the line driver (9vrms output) and bottom out the gain on the amp to let it do less work! I'm just learning as I go here. Thanks I love my staffie So anti FACEBOOK it isn't even funny
Boon Posted April 23, 2009 Report Posted April 23, 2009 The 'max' gain as you put it (8v) actually means the LEAST gain because that means 'set for 8v input' Don't max the gain anywhere. It's all about gain MATCHING not gain MAXING. 10.x volts fo' life!

Guest KyleCannon Posted April 24, 2009 Report Posted April 24, 2009 I have a AC Matrix line driver. I have my RF T1500-1bd at the lowest gain possible and it puts out 900 watts at 2 ohms. It sounds AWESOME too. The lower the gain the less THD. I built this app: http://kylecannon.net/audio_helper/ It will help you figure out what you need to set your stuff at
