awww man are u for real......that sucks i was hopin that the x would stand up to the abuse with out rattlein a whole lot i mean i expect it to but what u just said makes me disapointed...maybe ill try to get the hatch off this weekend and try not to break anything...got any advise for me on how to take it off with out breakin any clips???? o and the roof.. i dont really want to take it off...i hardly have no help n dont really want to put any creases in the head liner...got any advise on that too?

i've got a 2003 explorer also and so far all i have is a 15" orion hcca powered by a hifonics bxi 2010d and i havent got around to deadining it yet and it rattles the shit out of it. i cant imagine what 3 18s would do so be sure to deadin the shit out of the hatch. and i can almost promise you that you'll crack that plastic piece on the bottom of the rear window. but it looks good i like your build alot.

y you people have to tell me this lol....makes me not wanna go as big...psych!! ill still do it...it isnt my daliy driver so it only gets drov a couple times a week... dont know if thats gonna help alot.. but i am sure ill be driving it more once this stuff is in it... but yeah hopfully everything goes smooth and nothing breaks!!!!!

yeah i know that there is alot of flex n rattles.... but idk i just want stuff to sound clean.. but i guess if i cant hear it on the inside it prob wont really bother me to bad...lol.. but ill def be tryin to get the hatch off...

I just recently hooked up my 01 Expedition and it is "similar" to your X. I used Dynamat Xtreme throughout with double layers on the roof, floor and sides. Roof I went all the way up to the front sun roof and with the flooring all the way to the back seats same with the sides. Doors have a single layer. I'm running basically the same setup as you, but exchange BL's for BTL's and you're running 3 to my 2. RF T4k, MechMan 250 same as you, 3 Powermaster D3100 with KnuKonceptz 1/0 throughout.

As far as flex... Your X is a little tighter than my Expi, but flex is an understatement. With my box at "less than optimal" due to miscaculations during the designing process the flex was a lot more than I expected... Even with the double layering with Dynamat. The pressure you will see is just intense and whereas you have even more cone area than me, be in for a lot of broken moldings and/or windows. I actually have the Eddie Bauer and the rear windows have an automatic "vented" system that is controlled at the front(It's basically a powered swing-arm that vents the rear window about 3 inches). The other day while not even pounding that hard I actually snapped the plastic swing-arm which is over 1/4 inch of what looks like good quality plastic and the thing just sheared right off.... Whole window just came flying out and luckily didn't snap off the front hinge or I would've had a ported car instead of a ported box!

In regards to rattle as other people have said there is nothing you can do from stopping it. But you can make it less noticable if there is stuff rattling that you are able to put some type of barrier inbetween, be it Dynamat or your sound deadener that you could possibly slip between a noisy piece of plastic that just keeps slapping or remove the rear window wiper(I recommend this or you'll end up sending the thing flying at someone while you're banging out).

By no means do I consider myself an expert, I actually consider myself an extreme novice but I am looking forward to seeing how your build turns out! Our boxes(The one that I have now that I am changing) are actually very similar in design being that I ported horizontal instead of vertical and in my opinion be it may be just paranoia but where as our hatch lock is at the bottom, right where that port is pushing all that air it seems like I'm losing a LOT of sound pressure from it just pushing the entire hatch out literally half an inch or more. It may also be that I have a lose hatch, but I'm going to redesign or commission someones mathamatical prowess to make me a new box with a smaller port area and have it vertical instead of horizontal.

Anyways best of luck on the build! "I'll be tuning in" and looking forward to seeing some details regarding the undercarraige bat rack!
